Green Bay Area Public School District board approves three personnel actions in special meeting

The Green Bay Area Public School District board on Dec. 19, 2024, in a special meeting voted unanimously to approve three personnel actions: employment of staff, approval of resignations and approval of a staff termination.

Chair Laura opened the meeting and announced three action items. Rick moved that “the employment of staff as presented be approved,” and Lynn seconded. The board conducted voice votes and recorded four ayes, approving the employment recommendations.

Rick then moved that “the resignation of staff as presented be approved,” with Lynn again seconding. The motion passed by voice vote with four ayes.

For the final item, Rick moved that “the termination of staff as presented be approved”; Lynn seconded. Before the vote Rick asked whether “the letter that the gentleman submitted” had swayed members. Lynn said the letter concerned her and called the decision difficult. Andrew said his vote was procedural: “Just to be clear, my vote here is not related to merits of what was said in the letter or not. It’s because this yes vote allows the right to appeal and for that next step to happen if they have so much. That’s what my yes vote is based on.” Laura said she had read the letter and was “glad that Vicki passed that on to us,” but added that it “doesn’t change my vote here.” The board approved the termination by voice vote with four ayes.

Each of the three motions was moved by Rick and seconded by Lynn. Kinsey conducted roll call and voice voting. The meeting record shows four board members present for the votes; vote tallies were four ayes and no recorded nays, abstentions, or recusals.

The board adjourned by unanimous voice vote. The termination vote, as described by a board member, permits the affected employee the opportunity to appeal for a hearing before the board under the district’s process; no appeal date was set during the special meeting.
