District outlines superintendent search timeline; survey and community input underway

Board liaisons reported that HYA, the district's superintendent-search firm, held two days of meetings with roughly 70 constituents and launched a community survey to inform a leadership profile. The survey will remain open through Oct. 4, and the leadership-profile report is expected at the board's Oct. 23 meeting.
Trustees said recruitment has already started and that the search timeline includes: a search update at the Nov. 13 workshop, an application closing date of Nov. 25, an executive-session review of candidates on Dec. 11, semifinalist interviews on Jan. 8, and finalist visits to the district on Jan. 15 with a follow-up executive session and public vote on Jan. 16 (dates to be confirmed with HYA and the board).
HYA told the board it aims to collect a leadership-profile report from the survey, focus groups and stakeholder meetings and to begin active recruitment. Board liaisons said they had scheduled regular meetings with the consultants to coordinate process and community outreach. Trustees emphasized confidentiality for candidates during the executive-session phases and described plans for finalists to meet with staff, students and community groups during site visits.
The board encouraged high student participation in the survey; HYA's stated student participation target is 10 percent, and board members said they expect greater engagement when the survey is distributed in advisory periods.
No candidate names or semifinalist lists were discussed in open session.
