"I prematurely made this statement ... it should read 'I, Dan Peters, thank them for this thoughtful and thorough service to our district,'" Peters said, clarifying he spoke as an individual rather than for the full board.
Another board member responded, apologizing for a text response and saying the newspaper article presented the board as if it were in full agreement when that was not the case. The board member said they personally disagreed with the committee's outcome but had voted on the process during the public meeting. "I do want to apologize to Dan and the other board members ... I can't speak for the rest of the board members; I'm speaking for myself individually," the member said.
Peters said he appreciated the correction and that the exchange reinforced open board relationships. No formal action or executive session was requested following the clarification; the board moved on to other items and adjourned.
