The Ridgefield School District board opened Wednesday's meeting by swearing in Amanda Ronat as director for District Position One and by recognizing students and staff across the district for November.
Amanda Ronat repeated the oath of office aloud at the dais: "I, Amanda Ronat, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the constitution of the state of Washington and I will faithfully and impartially perform and discharge the duties of the office of Ridgefield School District number 122, director District position one." Family members stood behind her for the signing and board members congratulated her.
The board then recognized student leaders and students of the month from Ridgefield High School, Wisdom Ridge Academy, the Early Learning Center, Southridge and Union Ridge. Ridgefield High announced Jade Gonzalez (October/November student of the month) and Alina Kaine (November student of the month); Wisdom Ridge Academy recognized senior Ethan Geral. Michaela Nicks, representing student leadership, summarized recent student activities including a Dr Pepper halftime scholarship event, a pink‑out fundraiser that raised about $3,987 for the Pink Lemonade Project and an NHS canned‑food drive that collected about 800 items for the Ridgefield Resource Center.
Principals and family members offered brief remarks for honorees. The board also named employees of the month (including staff member "Peara") and recognized substitutes across district schools. The board took a brief recess after the presentations before returning to business.
The meeting proceeded into fiscal reports and first readings of levy measures and policy updates later in the agenda.
