School board accepts gifted boundary adjustment to secure access road and athletic buffer

The Missisquoi Valley School District board voted to accept a boundary adjustment that will transfer portions of land from the town and a neighboring owner to the district, officials said.

Julie said the adjustment would put the district's access road squarely on district property and create roughly a 70‑foot buffer along the edge of athletic facilities. Board members said facilities staff had inspected new survey markers and supported the transaction. The parcel includes an area used for a batting cage and a corridor used for cross‑country practice; the neighbor, identified in discussion as Brian R, will allow the district to continue using part of his property for the cross‑country course.

Board members said the transaction is structured as a land swap coordinated by the town and the neighbor and that the district will not pay for the gifted areas. Facilities committee members reviewed the plat and recommended approval; the board moved to accept the transfer and the motion carried.
