The team's top recommendation for the elementary level called for aligning curriculum and assessments across schools and embedding problem-based and project-based learning (PBL) at all grade levels to create consistent instructional expectations and hands-on learning opportunities.
For middle grades, the presenter recommended keeping a dedicated middle school building and strengthening elective offerings so students can explore career pathways and make informed course choices.
At the high school level, the team proposed combining and expanding existing proposed academies and pathways and growing the number of advanced-placement and college-course options to give students more postsecondary-ready choices.
On special education, the presenter recommended increasing opportunities for in-district placement for students with disabilities "from CPSE through CSE," aiming to serve more students locally rather than relying on out-of-district placements.
The fifth recommendation was to establish a parent information and training center to provide families with resources and training during transitions linked to the merger plan.
"These recommendations offer a starting point for ideas should the merger take place," the presenter said, and encouraged community questions and feedback. The segment concluded with an invitation for continued involvement as the focus-team series continues.
