The Solon Springs School Board swore in two newly appointed or elected members and filled officer positions before moving through routine business and several motions.
Britney Hagard and Scott O'Brien took the oath of office, each reciting the required pledge to support the constitutions of the United States and the State of Wisconsin and signing their oaths. The board then opened nominations for officers and elected Brad Hunter president. Board members also approved John as vice president, confirmed Britney Hagard as clerk and selected Scott O'Brien as treasurer.
The board approved the March 24 meeting minutes and accepted the treasurer's report showing a beginning balance of $1,356,490.78, total deposits of $37,498.25 and expenses of $421,351.91, yielding an ending balance reported as $972,637.12. Members also approved the listed expenditures without amendment.
On personnel matters the board approved the recommendation to designate Dustin Anderson as school counselor and to hire Atlanta Hill as assistant girls basketball coach. The board also approved hiring Jessica Johnson for a middle/high-school family and consumer sciences teaching position.
Administrative and program approvals included renewing co-op agreements for baseball, softball, and boys’ and girls’ track, approving the purchase of five sports medical/trainer bags and supplies, and approving participation/payment arrangements for concurrent enrollment (Start College Now / CollegeFirst) consistent with residency rules. The board also authorized staff to issue requests for proposals for an outside facility study to support potential future referendum planning.
The board moved to distribute staff contracts reflecting a 3% CPI increase across the board and then voted to convene into closed session under Wisconsin Statutes 19.85(1)(c) to consider personnel matters.
Next steps: administration was asked to return with cost estimates and implementation details on several items (facility study bids, medical supply options, and certificate/compensation proposals) for follow-up committee or regular-board review.
