The Adams‑Friendship Area School District board voted June 24 to convert the current 50% athletic‑director/50% teaching assignment into a full‑time activities director role that will cover high‑school and middle‑school activities, and to change a posted half‑time teacher position to a full‑time opening.
Board members discussed whether the change constitutes a new position that must be publicly posted or an internal reassignment. "Technically this becomes a new position," Mr Presley said during discussion, contending posting requirements could apply; other members said the language in the action is a transfer and favored approving the change to avoid delays in staffing. The board approved the transfer and the posting change by unanimous vote.
Administrators said the move would provide daily coverage in the activities office and allow the district to better manage co‑curricular programs while addressing instructional needs by converting a halftime teaching vacancy to full time. Human Resources will proceed with the vacancy posting for the teaching role and report back to the board as hires are finalized.
