The Mukwonago School District board voted Oct. 28 to increase per-student pay for 4K community partner programs by 3.3% (about $100), raising the per-student rate to $3,100.
Tom, the district presenter, said the district currently has roughly 150–160 4K students attending half-day partner sites (including YMCA Kids Connection and Vernon Child Development Center). If the board approved the proposed rate, district payments to partners were estimated at about $360,000, with an additional $112,000 for parent-transportation contracts; total costs to support partner 4K placements were discussed as approximately $462,000.
A board member moved to approve the increase; after a second the motion carried by voice vote. Board discussion noted that bringing all 4K in-house could produce similar costs unless program structure changed, and the approved increase was intended to help partners contend with rising operating expenses.
