Superintendent Vicki presented a monthly update at the Green Bay Area Public School District board meeting on Sept. 23, summarizing school visits, community engagement events and district outreach.
Vicki said the state superintendent visited Doty and Jackson Elementaries to highlight bilingual programming and ADA playground features. She noted district staff and students participated in community events including a Brown County United Way ribbon cutting and the Estamos Aquí Hispanic heritage event on the UW‑Green Bay campus, which organizers expected to draw thousands.
Vicki told trustees that a Brown County Golf Classic fundraiser raised $72,000 to support at‑risk students’ attendance at NWTC: "We raised $72,000 at this event. It was the most they've raised," she said.
Student representatives from the Intra‑City Student Council described facility improvements. Andres Mora, president and a senior at Preble High School, said students raised concerns about bathroom privacy; the district installed floor‑to‑ceiling stalls and will replace temporary doors with handles that include occupancy indicators. "One of the biggest concerns from students was that they weren't able to tell if the stall was occupied because the door handles didn't actually have a little indicator on it," Andres said. He said the new configuration has improved privacy and safety.
Trustees praised the district’s community engagement and said the Ambassador Academy cohort and other initiatives help surface feedback and strengthen ties between schools and families. The superintendent’s report concluded with encouragement for continued community participation ahead of a November referendum.
