The Adams-Friendship Area School District board unanimously approved the consent agenda containing multiple hiring recommendations, the board said at a short special meeting.
The hiring list approved included Neil Johnson (Middle School general collaboration teacher), Luna Bine (paraprofessional), Mia (second-shift parapro at the Middle School), Margaret Collins (Middle School secretary), Amy (administrative assistant for the after-school program), Susan Lloyd (paraprofessional), Taylor Hiller (paraprofessional), Desiree (special education health aide/paraprofessional) and Jesse Fritz (High School physical education teacher), along with academic co-curricular contracts.
Board member Jeff raised a question about several hires who lack full licensure and asked how the district will comply with a state rule that limits placements for staff without full license to 45 days. Jeff said that the rule will force a break and described the regulation as "in my opinion a ridiculous rule or regulation designed to not help most traditional public schools," adding that during the required break the district would bring in substitutes or have administrators fill in.
The board held a roll call vote and approved the consent agenda hiring recommendations with all recorded members voting yes (9-0). The special meeting adjourned at 7:06 p.m.
