District administrator outlines site-engagement plan for potential April 2025 facilities referendum and a tiered mentoring proposal

District administrator Tom told the Adams-Friendship Area School District board the district has begun weekly planning with Site Logic to engage the community around a potential facilities referendum in April 2025.

Tom said staff had a positive two-day orientation for new professional employees and that a former student, later a statewide associate-principal awardee, delivered an inspiring message about the impact of Adams-Friendship staff. He said the district is ‘‘confident about [Site Logic’s] ability to help us move forward and engage the community with a potential referendum in April of 2025 to talk about our facility needs.’’

Tom also said administration has removed mentoring from the co-curricular agenda while it develops a tiered mentoring system. The proposed approach would match very experienced mentors—Tom cited mentors with 20 and 31 years in the profession—with new hires and provide different support levels for staff who enter the profession with no experience or no teaching degree. He said administration will present a finalized mentoring proposal at the regular September meeting.

The board did not take any formal action on the referendum timeline or the mentoring plan at the special meeting; Tom described the work with Site Logic as ongoing and framed the September regular meeting as the next step for a mentoring recommendation.
