Mark Johnson presented a construction update to the board, summarizing recent rebids, subcontractor tabulations across 37 work categories and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) details for the Performing Arts Center, elementary school and stadium projects.
Johnson told the board the overall subcontractor subtotal and contingency lines leave the referendum-funded program on budget. He presented a GMP breakout for the Performing Arts edition (GMP3) and walked the board through the bid tabulation sheets and the process of selecting subcontractors. Johnson reported a form total of $13,516,936 for the Performing Arts-related package as presented in the packet and said project contingencies remain healthy after allocations for items found during construction.
He gave a timeline for near-term work: interior field and press box work, remaining sod and irrigation, and a window between the first and second home football games to complete track surfacing and striping. Johnson also invited the community to a short groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. behind the high school.
Board members asked clarification questions about remaining work items and contingencies. Johnson reiterated that most subcontractor categories yielded competitive bids and that only the signage category required a non-low-bid recommendation because the low bidder did not carry a bid bond.
No formal board action was taken; the update was informational and will remain part of ongoing referendum project oversight.
