The Summers County Board of Education on July 9 approved a recurring contract with Southern Sanitation for garbage removal for the 2024–25 school year, listed on the agenda at $6,533.21 from County funds. The board took a voice vote following a motion and second and approved the contract as the only vendor providing that service.
The board also approved several sets of minutes (June 11, June 25 and July 1 statutory meeting minutes) and approved personnel recommendations published on the agenda. Personnel actions included resignations, retirements, leaves of absence, professional transfers tied to workforce realignment for the 2024–25 school year and substitute services; effective dates and names were listed on the agenda.
Board members reviewed a packet of year-end budget transfer items affecting County Fund 11 but took no action on those transfers at the meeting; staff (Cassandra) will be present at the next meeting to explain the transfers in detail.
What’s next: The board left those budget transfers on the agenda for a future meeting when staff can provide a fuller explanation. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 23 at 6 p.m. at the central office.
