A facilities update reported work on the middle/high-school track encountered gravel when crews milled two inches. Staff and contractors met with coaches and discussed a plan to mill less material and mix it with concrete to achieve a thicker, harder surface that can be rubberized and maintained for years.
Staff said the drainage beneath the track appears inadequate in places and recommended clearing existing outlets and adding two additional drainage outlets on the long sides of the oval. Because the surface and drainage work must be completed before rubberization, the rubberization phase may be delayed until spring if crews cannot finish the surface work before winter.
The board heard that the district's role was limited to providing rubberization and that contractors will provide details and cost estimates. Staff said they will follow up on costs and scheduling; no formal vote was taken on the track at this meeting.
