Sturgeon Bay board approves consent items, personnel hires and major playground donations

By voice vote the board adopted the agenda and approved the consent agenda, which included the June 19 minutes, June bills and multiple donations and grants listed in the meeting packet. Administrators noted donations for capital and playground efforts including $10 for a greenhouse, $22 for Clipper Clays, and larger playground gifts cited in the packet: $4,000 from an anonymous donor, $1,000 from Rick and Nancy Genan/CT Charitable Foundation and an $80,000 anonymous donation toward playground efforts.
On personnel items, Principal Katy Dillers recommended Anna Fisher for a second‑grade teacher position at Sawyer Elementary for the 2024–25 school year; the board approved the hire following a motion and second. Principal Katie Smullen recommended Sam Marusi for a library teaching‑associate role at Sunrise Elementary; the board approved that hire as well.
The annual seclusion and restraint report was included in the packet for board review as required by state law; administrators noted it reports incidents from the prior year and that most incidents occur at the elementary level. No further action beyond approval of the consent agenda and personnel hires occurred at the meeting.
