Stanwood‑Camano board honors students and staff; new Twin City principal introduced

The Stanwood‑Camano School District board used part of its May 20 meeting to recognize students and staff from across the district and to announce administrative transitions.
Multiple schools presented "shining star" student recognitions. Jennifer Allen, principal at Twin City Elementary, introduced first‑grader Amara Lindlad and said positive interventions and family partnership helped the student find success. Liz Sanchez (Elder Bay Elementary) and Stacy Linger (Stanwood Elementary) introduced other student honorees and described leadership and perseverance.
Executive Director of Human Resources Christine Delposo presented employee awards. Carrie (named in the nomination) was recognized for contributions to communications and the district website; Kelly Nigelman was named certificated employee of the year for consistent support of students with school‑related anxiety.
Superintendent Overel also announced administrative moves in the district and welcomed Ryan Barcy as the new principal at Twin City Elementary; Barcy received a brief welcome gift and was introduced to the board.
The board recessed briefly for families after recognitions and then continued to school reports and regular business.
