Public commenter tells Stanwood‑Camano board contention hasn’t moved academics forward

"I did not get one answer to that question," Hut said of a written request he sent to directors asking them to name an initiative that significantly impacted student learning. He suggested three explanations — board reluctance, lack of meritorious programs, or absence of such programs — and urged support for staff and administrators who must operate amid public contention.
Hut framed the issue in numeric terms: "There are 4,861 losers who are kicked to the curb and deserve a higher priority and focus on their future," he said, calling for community time and resources that directly benefit struggling students and for public commenters to support district staff.
Board members did not engage in a detailed rebuttal during the public comment period; the board’s rules were read aloud noting that members do not respond during public comment. Hut’s remarks were followed by the student representative reports and the board’s consent vote on routine items.
