Two student representatives sworn in; students report athletic and academic highlights

Cameron (self-identified) and Isabella (Isabella web) were administered the oath under RCW 28A.343.030 and welcomed to the board. Cameron reported athletic milestones: Sultan High volleyball advanced to state for the first time since 1978; football and girls soccer reached playoff games. Cameron also described the district's student- and staff-of-the-month recognitions and noted winter sports had begun.
Principal Heather Anderson used her building report to mark National School Psychology Week and praised school psychologist Georgina (transcript: "Georgina bhof") for extensive student- and family-facing work including screenings, interventions and staff training, calling her a "bright spot in my workday." The board and audience applauded the new student representatives.
The board also discussed a policy to record student advisory votes before each board vote so student representatives can register pro/con/abstain positions that inform trustees though do not count toward official tallies.
