Board approves chess club, student representative and procurement policy updates

Chess club approved: An assistant principal asked the board to approve a kindergarten‑through‑fifth‑grade chess club supervised by the school counselor and the librarian; the board voted to approve the school‑sponsored club.
Student representative approved: The board approved Isabella Web as a student representative after her interview; she is a junior and will serve the remainder of this year and next.
Procurement policy updates: The board conducted second reads and approved policy/procedure changes for purchase orders and procurement cards. The changes increase the superintendent's purchase‑order authority in policy 6210 and add a procurement‑card procedure (6212). Board discussion focused on clarifying the definition of card custodians, receipt language (removing or clarifying the word "original"), and retaining RCW language where required.
