District financial staff presented preliminary year‑end numbers at the Oct. 28 board meeting and said the packet submitted to the Educational Service District (ESD) carries a "preliminary" watermark while the ESD performs its review.
The presenter explained the fund‑balance composition (restricted, committed, assigned, unassigned), noting that about one‑third of the total fund balance is restricted for specific uses. The report identified a food‑service carryover of $16,693.34 and a newly required "restricted kindergarten" ledger subcategory. The presenter also said a roughly $100,000 claim refund that was deposited in September was credited to the 2023–24 fiscal year and raised the ending fund balance.
The business officer said the district filed the preliminary report with the ESD and expects certification and any corrections by Nov. 15. Board members noted enrollment is currently about 63 students over budget, which will affect future budgeting calculations.
The financial reporting was framed as informational; staff said they will return the finalized, certified documents after ESD review.
