A consultant working on the Sultan School District superintendent search told the board the search process has generated robust community input: 17 focus‑group meetings with 77 participants and 53 online survey responses.
The consultant summarized themes that will shape the job brochure and candidate profile: celebrations such as community and recent academic growth; challenges including facilities/portable classrooms, communication and special‑education workload; and desired superintendent attributes including strong communication, visibility in schools and community, fiscal competence and the ability to build trust. "We had 17 meetings, 77 participants," the consultant said as part of the report.
The search team plans to finalize a candidate brochure and advertise the vacancy nationwide prior to a mid‑November conference. The search process will include two rounds of interviews, the consultant said: an initial public round that observers can attend and a follow‑up set of finalist sessions with more direct interaction with staff and community.
Board members were invited to review draft brochure language and suggested the district keep community engagement active during the posting period. The consultant will work with district staff to produce brochure drafts for board review in the coming week.
