Ridgefield board recognizes students, athletes and staff at January meeting

The Ridgefield School District board used its meeting to spotlight students and staff across the district.
ASB representative Michaela Nicks delivered a student-leadership update highlighting upcoming events such as a Unified & Multicultural night and winter formal. Athletic director Brennan Shipley recognized state placings for swimmers Rebecca Yamada and Meda and celebrated the Ridgefield High School girls soccer team’s back-to-back state championships; team representative Abigail Vance spoke about teamwork and community support.
The meeting also honored multiple students of the month from Wisdom Ridge Academy, Union Ridge, Southridge, Sunset Ridge, Viewridge Middle School and Ridgefield High School. Principals and program leaders read short citations describing academic and personal achievements for each student, and families came forward for photos.
Two employees of the month were recognized: Jessica Veron (Union Ridge Elementary teacher) and Angel Slack (Early Learning Center lead). Presenters praised their classroom instruction, dedication and support for colleagues.
These recognitions were followed by a board-appreciation segment in which the principal group presented a compilation of thank-you items to the board. A five-minute recess followed the group photo.
