Coach asks board to allow booster clubs to top up pay; board will consider at next meeting

Donnie Lingren, a resident and head coach, used the public-comment period to ask the board to allow individual sport booster clubs to supplement coaches' pay when league (CAA) payments fall short.
"What I'm going to ask for is permission from the school board ... it's a WIA law that in order to use our booster club money to pay coaches anything over $499 we have to have board approval," Donnie said, describing situations where booster funds could make coaches whole when league distributions fall short of contract amounts.
The board noted the item was not on the agenda and could not be discussed or decided that night; staff said they would place the matter on the next meeting agenda for discussion and a possible vote.
No vote or formal direction was taken at the meeting.
