Sheriff Holloway presented the January 2026 monthly report to the Commissioners Court, citing crime and detention metrics and a recent unscheduled jail inspection.
Key figures read into the record included an 81% clearance rate for Group A offenses (21 offenses, six arrests) and a 45% clearance rate for Group B offenses (33 offenses, 16 arrests), yielding an overall clearance of roughly 59% for the month. Bookings decreased from 120 to 95, while the average daily jail population rose slightly from 95 to 99. Holloway said there were openings in jail staffing and 11 vacancies in the law enforcement division; some vacancy slots were being filled by cadets in training.
Holloway highlighted a jump in arrest warrants served in the month (from 42 to 83) and explained that warrants are sometimes executed when investigations conclude or when individuals are captured elsewhere and returned to Washington County. He also read favorable comments from an unscheduled jail inspector who complimented the facility, the kitchen and the maintenance crew, saying—according to the sheriff—"You y'all have happy inmates here."
The court voted to approve receipt of the sheriff’s monthly report by voice vote. Commissioners and staff discussed ongoing facility improvements, including the kitchen and laundry room project, and the recent roofing work.
No disciplinary actions or new policy changes were announced during the presentation.
