At its Nov. 26 meeting the Des Moines Independent Comm School District board approved multiple consent and public-hearing items.
After closing public hearings with no commenters, trustees approved architectural plans and specifications for Lincoln High School parking-lot replacement and for North High School locker-room upgrades. The board also approved the FY 2025–26 school calendar.
The consent agenda passed unanimously and included previously authorized bills certified by the board secretary (the record stated $5,357,261.7). The board approved personnel recommendations that included termination of certain contracts as described in the superintendent's notice.
On budget items, the board approved district requests to the School Budget Review Committee (SBRC) for modified allowable growth: $4,309,952 for projected limited-English-proficient (LEP) program expenditures for FY2024–25; $271,900 for increased open enrollment (in); and $4,118,541.10 for increased open enrollment (out). Trustees voted unanimously on these requests.
Next procedural step: the SBRC will consider allowable-growth requests; revised monitoring reports and other items will return to the board as scheduled.
