The board approved the 2024–25 administrative flowchart and completed a required training segment on Local School Improvement Councils (LSICs) recommended in state guidance.
The superintendent presented the administrative flowchart and then played a West Virginia Department of Education training video on LSICs, noting changes following Senate Bill 172 and county policy 2322. The training outlined LSIC membership, election timing, public-posting and reporting requirements and the county superintendent's monitoring responsibilities. "This training meets the statutory requirement for principals, county boards and others deemed appropriate," the training narrator said in the video excerpt played for the board. The board approved the administrative flowchart by voice vote.
District staff also asked the board to approve 10 intercounty transfer requests for the 2024–25 school year (most transfers occurred between Franklin, North Fork and Brandywine schools). The superintendent confirmed class sizes would allow the transfers, and the board approved them by voice vote.
Staff reported several grants awarded over the summer: $88,000 for speech services/materials, a $1,000 preschool-inclusion award, and a $33,277.50 Guidepost to Graduation grant to support career-exploration and transition services at the high school. The district also reported 31 new student registrations across grades PreK–11. District staff will post the calendar materials and provide further updates as the school year opens.
