The Pocatello District board accepted the auditor’s report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024, after an external audit found the district’s financial statements were presented fairly in all material respects and identified no material internal control deficiencies.
Doran Lamson, the audit partner hired by the district, told trustees the audit was performed in accordance with government auditing standards and the resulting opinion is included in the district’s annual comprehensive financial report. "We performed the audit for the School District 25 for the fiscal year ended June 30th of 2024 in accordance with generally accepted governmental auditing standards … the financial statements are presented fairly in all material respects," Lamson said.
Lamson said the audit also covered federal award expenditures subject to the single‑audit requirements and found the district complied in all material respects with the compliance requirements that could have a direct and material effect on each major federal program. The auditors reported no disagreements with management and thanked district staff for their cooperation in providing information.
Jonathan Balls, director of business and operations, presented highlights from the financial report, noting the general fund composition, revenue sources (state apportionment and a supplemental levy), and that roughly 85% of general‑fund expenditures are for salaries and benefits. Balls said the district’s ending fund balance would cover about 60–68 days of operations, which is within Government Finance Officers Association guidance.
The board moved to accept the audit and certify the annual financial condition statement; the motion passed and the district will post the electronic audit copy and an updated financial report online.
