Platteville School District honored as a Model PLC district; Solution Tree praises sustained staff collaboration

Solution Tree regional representatives recognized the Platteville School District for achieving Model PLC (Professional Learning Community) status at the district and school level.

"I'm Jessica Tutto. I'm the regional vice president for sales for the central region, and I'm honored to be here tonight on behalf of Solution Tree," Jessica Tutto said, presenting the recognition for schools and the district.

Jean Bernstein, director of educational partnerships for Wisconsin and Illinois at Solution Tree, said the district is one of three model PLC districts in the state and that several schools met the program's benchmarks for student growth and sustained PLC practices. Bernstein credited the school leadership, named Superintendent Mr. Babel and director of continuous improvement Mr. Broley, and urged continued progress toward 'ambassador' status, a higher level of recognition in which districts mentor others.

The presentations noted that Neil Wilkins Early Learning Center, Westview Elementary and Platteville High School received model-school designations, while Platteville Middle School was recognized as a promising-practice school. Presenters described PLC as a system built on a relentless focus on learning, teacher collaboration and results-driven use of student data.

Board members and presenters acknowledged pandemic-era challenges but said the district's sustained work and resources purchased for professional development underpinned the recognition. The board accepted the presentation and joined Solution Tree representatives in brief celebration.

No formal board action was required; the recognition was ceremonial and informational.
