The BROOKE COUNTY SCHOOLS board opened its meeting by recognizing middle‑ and high‑school musicians who earned Superior ratings at the West Virginia Region 1 Solo & Ensemble Festival and several students chosen for the West Virginia All‑State honors recital. Board members invited students and family members forward for photographs and public acknowledgment.
The chair introduced students and small ensembles by name and thanked teachers and program staff for their support. The board noted that only 22 groups were chosen to perform on the state honors recital and that nine of those were instrumental groups, a point the board highlighted as evidence of the program’s strength.
Administrators and school staff said the students chose challenging repertoire, practiced through regional competition and earned honors at the state level after passing auditions. The board encouraged families to view a posted video of the performance on the district band page and offered congratulations to the students for their achievement.
The recognition was followed by brief remarks of appreciation from administrators and the board before the meeting proceeded to routine business.
