The Random Lake School District board on Thursday approved a set of routine but consequential governance items: it adopted a new Title IX policy to align with 2024 federal regulations (granted as an emergency approval and scheduled for a second reading), renewed a line of credit, designated official depositories, accepted resignations and approved multiple new hires and co-curricular assignments.
At the outset of the meeting the board approved the minutes from the June 24, 2024 meeting and authorized payment of bills totaling $118,204 for June. The board acknowledged a donation from the Bruce Career Foundation in support of referendum-related work.
On policy matters, the board voted to adopt Policy 2264 (Title IX) following a policy committee recommendation and discussion of recent regulatory changes; the board approved emergency adoption to maintain compliance and will revisit the policy for a second reading. The board also approved Policy 5610 (suspension and expulsion) on second reading, while deferring final action on Policy 2413 (human growth and development/health education) pending additional information about parental notification and curriculum placement.
Finance and administrative actions included renewal of the district line of credit with Summit Credit Union (formerly Commerce State Bank) and designation of Colin State Bank of Random Lake and Summit Credit Union as official depositories.
On personnel the board accepted the resignation of Sarah Hall (elementary school counselor) with thanks for her service and approved new professional staff: Daniel Kane (high school science), Jessica Barnard (middle school science) and Erica Bo (middle school ELA). The board also recorded notifications of additional salaried and support staff changes, and posted co-curricular and coaching appointments for 202425, including high school football and volleyball staff.
The board scheduled its annual meeting and budget hearing for Monday, Oct. 28, 2024 (hearing at 6:15 p.m., meeting at 6:30 p.m.).
