The Monroe School District Board of Education on July 14 approved two sponsorship agreements with Figgy Insurance and Financial Services granting 10‑year naming rights for parts of the new Monroe High School.
Administration recommended and the board approved a $50,000, 10‑year agreement to name the new high‑school tennis courts for Figgy Insurance and a $10,000, 10‑year agreement for the instrumental music room. Mr. Monroe described the agreements as a community partnership and said the district was “very thankful” for the Figgy family’s support.
Board members emphasized that the district will track large sponsorship donations individually and use sponsorship proceeds to offset future maintenance costs for the named spaces. Joe (administration) told the board the funds would help “offset future maintenance of the building” and that major sponsorship dollars for large spaces will be identified for those specific areas.
Motions: the motion to approve the tennis courts naming rights was moved by Mike Davis and seconded by Terry Montgomery; a subsequent motion to approve the instrumental music room agreement was moved and carried. Both motions passed on voice votes.
What happens next: administration will finalize agreements and ensure that sponsorship revenues are recorded and allocated for maintenance and specified space expenses. Board members and administrators said they will continue outreach for additional sponsorships for other campus spaces.
The board took the vote during its regular July 14 meeting; no public comment related to the sponsorships was recorded during the public‑comment period.
