Court approves $9,057.50 county share of playground change order; skate-park work to begin this summer

Tommy Barton presented a change-order request for the Millennium Park central playground project, saying a subcontractor lacked material to complete the swing sets and the contractor overnighted material to meet safety-compliance depth and expanded fall zones. The record shows a change order for $18,115 to address the work; the county will split that cost with the City of Danville and Boyle County's share is $9,057.50. The court approved the change order and directed payment when invoiced.
Barton also provided an update on the joint baseball-field capital project (completed under budget) and on the skate park: pre-construction site work (scraping topsoil and stockpiling fill) will begin in June, with main construction by the contracted builder scheduled to start on July 1.
The court discussed invoice timing and confirmed an invoice had been received before voting. The change-order motion carried by voice vote.
What this means: the county will pay $9,057.50 when invoiced to close out the playground changes and will move forward with the scheduled pre-construction activities for the skate park in June and contractor work in July.
