Director Chandler sought permission to submit multiple projects to the state's flood mitigation assistance pre‑application window (noncommittal). The court approved submission of the pre‑applications to keep projects in consideration for full application later.
On budget line items, the Committee of the Whole recommended maintaining employee health benefits option 1 with no change to employee contribution; the court voted to approve that recommendation. Magistrates discussed an increase to the road department overtime budget in light of recent extraordinary events; the court voted to amend the overtime marker to $55,000 to avoid midyear transfers.
Court members approved an out‑of‑state travel request for Director Johns to pick up a portable stage in Ohio on June 12; the county and city plan to share purchase costs and maintenance will store the stage in a maintenance trailer. The court also approved inclusion of a new emergency management logistics facility (warehouse space behind the jail) in the FY26/27 budget, with staff noting potential offsets including insurance proceeds and possible sale of a Midway EMS property.
Other budget and grant items discussed included continued broadband project funding, USDA flood recovery buyout and Millville wastewater grant figures, a $125,000 pavilion grant for Hunter Town Community Interpretive Park, and continued monitoring of county road aid calculations. The treasurer reported a current balance of $15,627,401.71.
