The Village of Jackson Budget and Finance Committee on May 12 approved the minutes of its April 21 special meeting and the April 2026 check register and treasurer's report, the committee chair said.
A committee member moved to approve the April minutes; the motion was seconded by Olson and carried on a voice vote. The committee later voted to approve the April check register and treasurer's report after a motion by Wells and a second by Olson, with the chair calling the vote and stating the motion carried.
During the discussion of the treasurer's report, a committee member asked whether next year's budget comparisons could be "phased out to 12 months" so that expenses appear in the accounting periods when they are planned rather than shown as year-to-date versus a full-year budget. "Is it possible to next year if we're gonna be doing this have the budgets done phased out to 12 months with the expenses in the appropriate periods that we plan on?" the committee member asked.
A different committee member responded that the presentation format is largely tied to adjusting journal entries from the auditors, which the committee has not yet received. The speaker noted those auditor adjustments affect how current-period expenses are recorded.
Short procedural items concluded the meeting when a committee member moved to adjourn; the chair called the vote and the motion carried.
The committee did not schedule further meetings or set a next-step date on the budget-comparison formatting during the session.
