Gahanna to launch 'Go Hannah' accessible shuttle on June 1 with grant support

Mayor Chadwick announced at the May 4 council meeting that Gahanna will launch 'Go Hannah,' a free ADA-accessible community shuttle service on June 1 intended to help residents age 65 and older, residents with disabilities, and caregivers reach medical appointments, essential services and everyday needs.

The mayor said the program was included in last year’s budget and that the city secured additional grant funding that helped subsidize the service. She cited support from a vendor selected through the city procurement process and federal transit grant assistance (at the meeting the mayor referenced the Federal Transit Administration and a Section 5310–style grant program). She said full details and sign-up information will be posted to gahanna.gov ahead of the June 1 launch.

The mayor described the service as free and ADA-accessible; she also said two new electric vehicles will be added to the city fleet, although the immediate shuttle vendor selection does not use a fully electric fleet. City staff — including the grants analyst and director Wibensinger, whom the mayor named — were credited for securing the funding.

The announcement was made during the mayor’s official report and drew questions from council about vehicle type and a brief exchange confirming the city added two electric vehicles to its fleet in support of broader sustainability goals. The service is intended to expand residents’ transportation options and support independence for older adults and residents with disabilities.
