Clayton business group reports $175,000 donated to community in 2023; council recognizes local volunteer

C. W. Wolfe, president of the Clayton Business & Community Association, told the city council on Nov. 21 that CBCA reached a goal of donating $175,000 back to the Clayton community in 2023 and listed recent grant awards that include $50,000 to the Mt. Diablo Interpretative Association for an education center and pavilion, $6,000 to Clayton Theatre Company, and smaller gifts to local schools and programs.
Wolfe said CBCA and community volunteers decorated downtown Clayton for Holiday in the Grove and promoted a Tree Lighting event scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m.
During the recognitions portion of the meeting the council presented a Certificate of Recognition to Liz Abbot as an "Unsung Hero." Councilmember Cloven also requested adjournment in memory of former Mayor and Councilmember Robert Kendall; the council adjourned in his memory at 7:34 p.m.
