Committee advances permanent William L. Mallory Sr. street renaming and honorary Amir Anthony Jordan Way

The Housing and Growth Committee moved two street-naming measures to full council consideration on Monday.
Vice Mayor Kearney introduced a notwithstanding ordinance to permanently rename Bank Street in the West End as William L. Mallory Senior Street. She detailed Representative Mallory’s long public service — including his election to the Ohio House in 1966, later service as majority floor leader, sponsorship of more than 600 bills, and roles in statewide programs — and said the West End Community Council had unanimously approved the request. Kearney told the committee that impacted residents had been notified and cited a supporting letter from Saint Vincent de Paul.
Kearney also presented an honorary secondary street name request from the family of Amir Anthony Jordan to add the designation Amir Anthony Jordan Way at Chickering Avenue and Estee Avenue in Spring Grove Village. The Spring Grove Village community council had likewise unanimously approved that request.
Both items were advanced by the committee without objection for passage at full council.
