Lancaster County approves salt shed purchase, culvert contract and a one‑year farm lease

County Engineer Pam Dingman recommended awarding a Sourcewell purchase order to Greenfield to replace an aging salt shed at Sprague for $216,742.88; the Board approved the recommendation by voice vote with Commissioners Rick Vest and Matt Schulte seconding and supporting the motion. Dingman said the item was budgeted as a replacement for a facility that had exceeded its useful life.
Dingman also recommended awarding the 2025 culvert maintenance contract (Project 25‑24) to Vogtscapes Inc. for $511,277. She told the Board that the selected bid came in roughly $150,000 under the original engineer’s estimate; the Board approved the contract 4‑0 (Vice Chair Chelsea Johnson absent).
The Board approved a one‑year lease of 57.59 acres of county agricultural land to Andrew Neujahr for $4,925 (March 1, 2026–Feb. 28, 2027). Kerin Peterson, Facilities and Properties Director, said Neujahr has leased the land for the past three years and used it to produce alfalfa.
All procurement and lease items were approved by recorded motion and vote; no public comment was offered on those agenda items during the meeting. The meeting record shows the awards were made using the cited contract numbers and procurement sources (Sourcewell contract 071223‑ACS for the salt shed and Project 25‑24 for the culvert work).
