Gabriel Graham, founder of Armada FC, told the Fairview Board of Commissioners on May 7 that his club is seeking to establish neighborhood-based recreational and club soccer programming in Fairview.
Graham said Armada, which currently runs programs in West Nashville, Bellevue and Antioch, has grown from two teams and about 30 players in its first year to roughly 180 players and eight teams by its second year. “We want to build a soccer division of Armada in Fairview where people can play and practice in Fairview and not have to drive all the way to Antioch,” Graham said. He described Armada’s approach as “1 club, many neighborhoods” and emphasized community engagement, citing partnerships with Metro Parks and Recreation at Orchard Bend Park.
Graham noted recent coaching hires intended to strengthen the club’s development pipeline, including Desmond Armstrong, a former U.S. national team player, as director of coaching, and Teal Bunbury as director of player development. He said Armada aims to start with an affordable recreational program that can develop players into travel and club teams over time.
The commission did not take formal action on the presentation. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about where programming would be staged and expressed support for community-based youth sports.
Graham closed by offering to host a free clinic and to continue engaging school coaches and families to build local participation.
