Council adopted a motion directing the administration to prepare a report within 60 days cataloging city workforce-development opportunities. The report will include programs such as the Youth to Work program, career-pathways initiatives, fire and police cadet programs for youth, a building-inspections academy, departmental internships and other training opportunities.
Vice Mayor Kearney described the motion as intended to give the Economic & Cultural Opportunity Committee a comprehensive list of city-run or city-supported workforce pathways. The clerk called roll for the motion and council members present recorded unanimous yes votes; the motion passed.
Council did not add amendments during the meeting. The council recorded the motion and asked staff to prepare the report and provide it to the committee within the 60-day window for review and next steps.
