Student council, MathCounts and SSLAC student reps recognized at Libertyville SD 70 meeting

The Libertyville School District 70 Board of Education opened its March 16 meeting by recognizing student groups and hearing a report from student representatives.
Principal Annette McBride introduced members of the Copeland Manor Student Council and their sponsors, Stephanie Meo and Anna Musich, and thanked students for fundraising efforts that funded staff appreciation bouquets through a partnership with Inspired By Flowers. The Board paused business at 6:08 p.m. to meet and greet students and staff before resuming at 6:16 p.m.
Highland Middle School MathCounts sponsor Susie Hardiman introduced students who participated in the MathCounts program; the Board recognized the team for achievement and commitment to mathematical problem-solving.
Superintendent Rebecca Jenkins introduced sixth-grade Student Leadership Advisory Council representatives (Charlie H. and Jackson M.). Jackson reported that Illinois Assessment of Readiness testing at Highland Middle School was proceeding smoothly and said he appreciated scheduling tests in the morning. Superintendent Jenkins described SSLAC’s role in bringing student voice to district decisions and said members will help administration identify areas of celebration and growth across District 70.
The recognitions and SSLAC report were presented in the opening portion of the meeting prior to the Board’s business votes.
