Randolph County Schools board approves auxiliary bus driver pay schedule, authorizes school credit cards and moves on personnel actions

The Randolph County Board of Education on May 12 approved a package of routine year-end measures, including a revised auxiliary bus driver job description and salary schedule, authorization of credit-card accounts for Child Nutrition programs, declaration of surplus technology for recycling, and personnel actions after an executive session.

The board convened at 5 p.m. for a special-call meeting. The chair opened the meeting, Miss Margie Murphy delivered the invocation and the board recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The board first approved the meeting agenda and the minutes of the April 21 meeting by voice vote.

Superintendent (no name given) told the board he would reserve discussion of one packet item for executive session because it involves personnel and noted that graduations scheduled for Saturday will be held all on the same day “so people maybe can attend.” The superintendent recommended several items that the board then voted on by voice vote.

On personnel and human resources, the board approved a revised auxiliary bus driver description and salary schedule that would allow teachers and employees to drive regular bus routes when needed and set a pay scale for such substitute driving. The board approved an emergency letter to the governor requesting HVAC replacement for district facilities. The superintendent introduced the item as an emergency request and the board approved the letter by voice vote.

The board voted to enter executive session to discuss a confidential personnel matter and later voted to exit executive session. After returning, the board approved a letter of suspension for an employee aide and approved the personnel action sheet. The motions were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote; the record does not list individual roll-call tallies.

The superintendent asked members to check availability for a possible meeting on the 21st. With no further business, the chair adjourned the meeting.
