Brooke County commissioners approve minutes, invoices and budget transfers; Follansbee VFD payment tabled

At its April 28 meeting the Brooke County Commission unanimously approved minutes and open invoices, authorized in-house budget transfers, accepted an ambulance resignation, approved poll workers for early voting and Election Day, and tabled a $7,952.83 payment to the Follansbee Volunteer Fire Department until May 5.
The Brooke County Commission met April 28, 2026 at the county courthouse and approved a series of routine administrative and financial items.
Commissioner Stacey Wise moved and Commissioner Thomas R. Diserio seconded motions that were unanimously passed to approve the minutes of April 21, 2026, accept the presented open invoices, and authorize in-house budget transfers of $1,000 to Law Enforcement, $8,000 to State Government Grants and $19,393 to EMS/OMS. The Commission also accepted the resignation of Melynda Sampson from the Ambulance Service, effective April 23, 2026.
Commissioner Wise moved, and Commissioner Diserio seconded, a unanimous approval to reopen the estate of Richard Lee Lantz after petitioner Karen Fierbaugh reported newly discovered assets.
The Commission approved All-County Fire Fund payments including $1,448.00 to the City of Weirton. A $7,952.83 payment listed for the Follansbee Volunteer Fire Department was TABLED by the Commission until the May 5, 2026 meeting for further consideration.
The panel also approved Early Voting poll workers (scheduled April 29–May 9, 2026, at $19.00 per hour) and Election Day poll worker pay schedules for May 12, 2026. The clerk noted the list of poll workers and the standard pay structure for the election period.
Minutes from Brooke County PSD for March 11 and 25, 2026 were received and filed. The meeting record shows the Commission ordered checks and approved vouchers for multiple county funds as listed in the minutes.
The Commission adjourned after routine business; the minutes were signed by President Thomas R. Diserio and Clerk Kimberly M. Barbetta.
