Wilton Comm School District board approves consent agendas, sets May 27 budget amendment hearing

The Wilton Comm School District Board met May 13 and moved through routine business, approving consent agendas and setting a date for a budget amendment hearing.

During financial remarks, the district’s financial officer noted the upcoming automatic general‑obligation bond payment of $796,623 due May 28. "That's $796,623," the financial officer told trustees, and staff explained that debt service for the bonds is funded primarily by property taxes with levies set to cover the payment.

Trustees also approved replacement expenditures for three defibrillators that reached expiration and discussed nutrition‑fund management and upcoming milk‑procurement planning; staff said those items will appear in the June meeting packet. The board then moved and seconded to pay the district’s bills; the motion carried by voice vote.

On consent business, trustees approved multiple consent agendas that included personnel changes (resignations and new hires). The registrar reported hiring Mandy Paulson for the elementary school; board members noted increased late registrations (61 elementary registrations reported) and continuing preschool enrollment.

A motion to approve consent agenda number 3 carried with tabling of items S and V; during that motion a trustee set the fiscal‑year 2026 budget amendment hearing for Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in the junior–senior media center. The board also discussed timing for handbook language pending Department of Education interpretation of recently passed state legislation; staff recommended waiting for that interpretive guidance before final handbook approval.
