Maple Valley council approves consent items, schedules events and introduces HR reclassification

The Maple Valley City Council approved the consent calendar at its April 27, 2026 meeting, which included vendor and benefits checks, wire transfers and electronic funds transfers totaling $2,954,870.72 and authorized staff to execute a three-year Microsoft enterprise renewal agreement (Resolution R-26-2062) and an Emergency Management Performance Grant agreement (R-26-2064).
Julie Hunsaker, Director of Human Resources/Risk Manager, introduced a reclassification request for the Communications Specialist position; the matter will return for Council approval at the next regular business meeting. Mayor Sean P. Kelly asked the council to approve Maple Valley as host for the Southend Mayors Meeting on Aug. 11 at Lake Wilderness Lodge; the council approved hosting unanimously, 7–0.
City Manager Laura Philpot also noted upcoming events including a budget retreat, the Farmers Market opening day and the "Kickin it with Council" event at Summit Park. Public Works Director Tawni Dalziel provided a brief update on the city’s message boards. Deputy Mayor Didem Pierson requested that Council meeting videos be hosted on the city website; Council extended the meeting again late in the evening to allow remaining business to proceed and ultimately adjourned at 10:06 p.m.
No controversial votes were recorded on these agenda items and the council did not take final action on the MFTE map at this meeting.
