Glendale council adopts $1.41 billion tentative budget for fiscal year 2027

The Glendale City Council unanimously adopted a tentative fiscal year 2027 budget set at $1,410,000,000 during its May 12 meeting.
Budget administrator Jonathan Hill presented the proposal, saying, “It’s set at $1,410,000,000 and includes an operating budget of $714,000,000, a capital improvement plan budget of $441,000,000, a debt service budget of $113,000,000, and a contingency appropriation of $142,000,000.” He told the council the budget does not include an increase to the primary property tax rate.
The resolution (R26-52) also set the schedule for public engagement: a final-budget public hearing is set for June 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center, and adoption of the property tax levy is scheduled for June 23 at 5:30 p.m. Hill reminded council that a final budget may be lower but cannot exceed the tentative amount.
Council member Lauren Tomachoff moved to adopt the tentative budget; after a roll-call vote the motion carried unanimously. The council’s action advances the budget process to public hearings and final adoption later this summer.
