At its May 12, 2026 meeting, the Wilson Central School District Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions that included tenure appointments, new teacher hires across grade levels and several nursing‑staff transitions. The board then voted to move into an executive session to discuss evaluations, with no action planned afterward.
Scott Benton, the district's middle school principal and acting superintendent, introduced several candidates and described their qualifications. "Stacy consistently demonstrates professionalism, dedication, and commitment to student success," Scott Benton said in recommending one candidate for tenure. The board approved the resolution appointing the teacher to the tenure area in special education, with tenure service listed as beginning Sept. 8, 2026; the motion carried.
The board approved additional appointments and probationary placements read into the record by the clerk. Among those approved were Steve Hruby (mathematics, tenure area; service beginning Sept. 8, 2026), Andrea Castrino (special education, probationary period stated through Oct. 1, 2029), Madison Wright (elementary teacher, probationary period through Sept. 2, 2029), Emily Reed (elementary teacher, probationary period through Sept. 1, 2030), Natalie Stroop (elementary teacher), Zachary Weathery (elementary/fifth‑grade science, probationary period through Sept. 1, 2030), Alexis Royster (speech‑language pathologist), Samantha Chode (special education) and Megan Westbrook (grades 7–12 math). Each of these motions was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Administrators also described a planned nursing‑staff transition prompted by retirements. The record notes that Sadie Walsh is retiring at the end of the school year and Mary Canfield is retiring effective Nov. 3; Liz Barton, currently the district's float nurse, is scheduled to assume middle‑ and high‑school coverage, Heather (last name recorded as Thompson in the appointment reading) will start as a float nurse Sept. 1, and a nurse identified in the record only by the first name Jessica was read as appointed as a 1.0 FTE school nurse effective Oct. 19, 2026. The board approved the nursing appointments and related personnel motions.
Other routine business approved on the consent agenda included financial items, personnel resignations, summer hours for staff and CSE/IEP minutes dated May 12, 2026, along with conference and facility‑use requests and fundraisers. During the vote on the administrative‑leave continuation, the record shows one opposed vote was noted; most other motions passed by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
The meeting included a brief set of announcements about school concerts, prom and service projects and closed with the board's unanimous vote to enter executive session to discuss evaluations. The clerk stated there would be no board action following the executive session.
Note on names and transcript variants: the meeting record contains inconsistent spellings for at least one appointee (the teacher recommended at the start of the appointments appears as "Stacy Danner" in portions of the discussion and as "Stacy Gander" in the formal motion text). The appointment was approved and listed to begin Sept. 8, 2026; the board record should be consulted for the authoritative spelling.
