A board member moved to approve the sign under the cited code section; the motion passed on roll-call affirmations. The board noted projecting signs may be permitted as a special use upon approval from the board of zoning appeals and that the proposed sign is set back from the road and would not impede sight lines.
The applicant and board discussed size, mounting bracket clearance (applicant described ~25 inches from post to awning and a sign ≈20 inches) and brightness. The board recorded that the sign would be “tasteful,” not flashing, and under the applicant’s control to dim or turn off when necessary.
