Fond du Lac City Manager Joe Moore on March 25 presented a “salute to excellence,” announcing three recent honors for city departments and inviting department leaders to accept recognition.
Comptroller Trisha Davey said the city’s annual comprehensive financial report qualified for the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting — the city’s 30th consecutive year receiving the award. “This is our 30th year of receiving this award,” Davey said, thanking the comptroller’s office, department heads and council for support in preparing the report.
Moore and Chief Garrettson then described Fond du Lac Fire Rescue’s successful completion of its third five‑year accreditation cycle with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. Chief Garrettson said the process provides an external benchmark and “a structured framework to make informed strategic decisions that maximize the value to our community,” and thanked the accreditation team and multiple city departments for their support.
Moore also called forward Police Chief Goldstein to note the department’s accreditation from the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group. Goldstein said the department has systematically reviewed policies and practices across multiple cycles and emphasized community input in shaping policing standards. “When you look at our fire, rescue, and police, we are only one of two communities in the state of Wisconsin that has an accredited fire and accredited police department,” Goldstein said.
Council members praised staff for the recognitions. Council member Mr. Mullen described the awards as evidence of “excellence” across city operations and thanked staff and leadership for their work.
The council did not take formal action on the recognitions; they were presented for public acknowledgement.
